LEPIN TECHNICS 20001 Porsche 911 GTR3 RS Review

Apologies again for the long break from writing reviews. I'm still not well yet from my bad cough and the recent haze doesn't help much with the recovery.

The number of "unassembled" toys in my room has been increasing lately due to the break i.e. Green Grocer, Brick Bank, Cafe Corner, Ferris Wheel, Super Star Destroyer, HeliCarrier, Wall-E and many more. But I decided to build this baby - LEPIN TECHNICS 20001 Porsche 911 GTR3 RS, thanks to my 2 days annual leave clearance.

The LEPIN TECHNICS 20001 Porsche 911 GTR3 RS is the bootleg version of the LEGO 42056 Porsche 911 GTR3 RS. This set is based on the Porsche 911 GTR3 RS below.

Without further delay, I'll jump straight into the assembling process. Pictures below. (Warning! Picture heavy!)

And voila! It's done! Took me more than 2 days to complete. Now, let's review this set!

This set is insanely difficult to assemble and with LEPIN's bricks packaging, it doesn't help much. If you don't have patience, I suggest you don't get this set...seriously. 

Let's start with the bricks quality. Some of the bricks are rough and requires force to attach them. I suffered some minor blisters on my fingers because of that. The bricks fits in perfectly and there are no missing bricks. The tyres are okay, just that the rubber sometimes doesn't fit in the sports rim perfectly. The brick colors aren't as glossy as displayed on the box but that's expected. You are paying like...40% of the original price but still get the same assembling joy.

The mechanical parts works like how it should; from the gear box (reverse, neutral, drive) to the steering wheel to the drive shaft. 

I give it an overall rating of 9/10. It would have gotten a perfect score if the paint job was better and if the bricks were less "painful". 

What about the size? It's huge! It's freaking bigger than the UCS Tumbler! Refer to picture below.

LEPIN 15004 Fire Brigade Review

Apologies for the late post. I have been down with flu/cough/sore throat combo for the past 2 weeks so I was unable to write a review. But during this period, I managed to assemble the LEPIN 15003 Town Hall and LEPIN 15004 Fire Brigade. Today, I'll be reviewing the LEPIN 15004 Fire Brigade.

The LEPIN 15004 Fire Brigade is the bootleg version of the LEGO 10197 Fire Brigade. LEGO released this set back in 2009 and the cheapest brand new set on eBay now is priced at USD 375. Wow! The LEPIN 15004 Fire Brigade is currently priced at USD 35 on AliExpress which is 10% of the price! The LEPIN version comes with an extra 82 pieces of bricks but I don't have the original set to compare what the pieces are. Maybe I should just cross check with the original manual. What about the box and packaging? The box looks exactly the exactly the same as the original and Oh! What's this? The bricks packaging comes 2 nicely packed boxes labelled A and B. Does this mean LEPIN finally sorted out the bricks!? NOPE! We were fooled by the nice packaging! The bricks are still sorted by sizes and colors.

Okay, let's start bricking!

Finally, after 6 hours, it's completed! My verdict, 7.5 out of 10. Let's start with the mini figures. LEPIN's mini figures are horrible as usual. The legs of all the mini figures are loose so they fall off easily. Tsk tsk, improve your QC, LEPIN! I have a deformed 1x6 tile but luckily it still fits in...barely...but not noticeable. And the refrigerator on the first floor - it's barely holding and falls apart if you hold it to hard. And the string that LEPIN provided to hold the bell on the roof - it's pathetic! I ended up using my own string! Another issue I discovered was the front gates are a bit tough to push up. I had to manually filed the sides so it becomes loose. Even after filing, the front gates can't go up fully. You can see the video of it below.

The bricking process was fun though. The floors snapped in nicely unlike the LEPIN GhostBusters Firehouse Headquarters and the base plate did not warp even though the building sits on 2 separate base plates. Love the flag and ping pong table!

LEPIN 06022 NINJAG Temple of Airjitzu Review

It's been nearly a month since I did my last bootleg building bricks review, no thanks to Euro 2016. I'm glad it's finally over - congratulations Portugal for winning!

I'll be reviewing the Temple of Airjitzu this time...the bootleg version of course. I set my eyes on this set for quite some time but couldn't afford it at that time. It was the BELA version which I wanted but too bad my supplier in GM Klang did not have it. They had the LEPIN version instead which I readily accepted. The LEPIN 06022 is the bootleg version of the LEGO 70751. Box comparison below. Unlike the original version, the LEPIN version has an extra 122 pieces.

Let's start assembling!

Ta da! So much fun assembling this set! Now, the verdict below.

I'll rate this set 9/10. Somehow I feel that this time the mini figures and bricks quality are slightly better than the previous LEPIN sets eventhough this set has been out for quite some time. There were no missing bricks BUT I had one part which was the not the right size which screwed up one of my buildings. It's the cross axle bar (refer picture below) which was not the right length so I had to sacrifice one of the decorations for one of the smaller houses. The stickers are kinda small so you'll need steady hands (or small hands like me) to apply it on certain bricks. Apart from that, I had no other problems which this set. Oh, I love the LED light show! You can view it in the Youtube video below.

I ordered some LED bricks from China and decided to test it on the Temple of Airjitzu. Looks like a success!
