DECOOL 7115 Super Heroes Bat-Pod Review

I was hoping I had time to review the LEPIN 15001 Brick Bank but due to storage issues I was unable to build it. Why storage issue? I just collected 5 units of LEPIN 16001 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters, 11 units of DECOOL 7115 Bat-Pod, LEPIN 06022 Temple of Airjitzu and LEPIN 07034 Super Hero Airport Battle. Add 7 units of DECOOL 7111 The Tumbler, 7 units of LELE 79211 and several other LEPIN Star Wars to the figure and you will understand why I have to sort out my storage.

So, what will I be reviewing today? I'll be reviewing a small and simple bootleg brick today - DECOOL 7115 Super Heroes Bat-Pod. A Bat-Pod? You will be asking when/where was the original Lego version released since you don't see it in your regular Lego stores. I will tell you the reason. The Lego 5004590 DC Comics Super Heroes Bat-Pod is an exclusive DC Comics Super Heroes set given out to winners of Lego VIP member sweepstakes contest back in June 2015. This set is limited to 750 copies only worldwide. Since it's an exclusive set, the price is insanely high for such a small set. View screenshots below for the prices taken from eBay and Amazon.

But no worries! You can get the bootleg version for less than RM 80! Different manufacturer, same joy.

Now, let's look at the box and contents.

This is a relatively small set; 338 pieces so it will be a breeze to assemble. I did not manage to take a lot of photos this time due to the speed. Let's view the final product.

So, what's the verdict. I'll give it 9/10. I have some trouble with some of the Technic parts until I require the help of a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. The screwdriver was to enlarge the hole of the connector so that a shaft can go through it without breaking. (My friend broke 2 of the shafts so he had to swap with the shafts near the mudguard) The pliers were used to push in the connectors so that you won't get blisters. The tyres are slightly...ummm...out of shape? You know when a car tyre gets damaged when you go through a pot hole...the unstable wobbly feeling? Yup, it's the same feel here. Apart from that, nothing much. No missing parts. Like the original, it doesn't comes with any mini figures. I'm planning to add blue LEDs on the front part of the Bat-Pod to make it look cool.

Thanks for reading, enjoy your bricking and enjoy the Euro 2016!

LEPIN 05010 STAR WNRS Resistance Troop Transporter Review

I'll be reviewing the bootleg version of the Resistance Troop Transporter today. Yes, it's near impossible to find it in stores anymore unlike the other bootleg releases, this is not highly sought after so most sellers don't restock them once they are sold out. Same goes to the other releases like Kylo Ren, Sith Infiltrator and First Order Transporter. I got mine from TaoBao because I don't want to spend much buying them at premium prices off Lelong or Mudah.

The LEPIN 05010 is the bootleg version of LEGO 75140. This is one of the smaller sets by LEPIN - 678 pieces. The box is alike (like all other LEPIN releases) and LEPIN's brick packaging is horrible as usual - unnumbered random packaging. Yeah, I'm guessing that I'll be copy pasting the box comparison for all LEPIN releases. Apologies about the TaoBao sticker which I did not manage to tear it off in my photos below.

Now, let's start assembling! Because the set is small (678 pieces), I completed it in less than 1.5 hours. Hurrah!

Now, the verdict. I'll rate it at 9 out of 10. No missing bricks and the mini figures quality are good. Love the Admiral Ackbar figure. Like all LEPIN releases, the bricks quality and colors are good, mini figures are good AND the missile launcher doesn't work as usual.

Let's have the 360 degrees view of the set.

LEPIN 05008 STAR WNRS Sith Infiltrator Review

Today, we will look into the bootleg version of the Sith Infiltrator - LEPIN 05008. This is the exact clone of the original LEGO 75096 Sith Infiltrator. This is another hard to find set in Malaysia due to the low demand for it in the market. If you want to get it locally, you can try finding them on Lelong or Mudah. I got mine from TaoBao.

Let's look at the box and bricks packaging.

Since this is a small set (698 pieces), the assembling was fast as expected. Pictures below.

Assembling done! Easy as expected. Mini figures are okay this time and the bricks quality and colors are excellent. BUT the most surprising thing was...the missile launcher works! There's a release mechanism at the side of the ship which releases 3 droids. I did not manage to get a picture or video of it. I'll try to put it in next time. Verdict? 10 out of 10 because the missile launcher works for once!

Now, for the 360 degrees view.

LEPIN 16001 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Review

The most anticipated bootleg set is here; LEPIN 16001 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters! This is the bootleg version of the LEGO 75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters which was recently released back in January 2016. Wow, the bootleg companies are getting better and better for them to release the bootleg copy in less than 6 months!

I got my shipment from TaoBao slightly late due to some shipping issues. No matter, the most important thing that it's here now. Let's start with the box and bricks packaging. My box was slightly damage due to the shipping but the contents were intact. The box packaging looks similar but the number of bricks were different. Lego has slightly less bricks compared to the bootleg version. I'm not sure why myself.

There are 2 smaller boxes in the box. Inside the 2 small boxes were the bricks packaging and manual. Yes, the bricks packaging are not labeled according to the building sequence as usual. This is an absolute nightmare for me since this set is HUGE - 4705 pieces! Let's look at the box and bricks packaging below.

Before we start assembling, the first thing that I did was to find all the empty boxes from my other sets to sort the bricks. Smaller pieces goes into that special plastic container while the rest goes into the boxes sorted by size.

Sorting the Bricks

Now, to Hell...

* I made a mistake here. The hollow side of the white walls should be facing in. When I realized that, it was too late.

Yes, finally completed! It took me about 24 hours, as in actual hours, to complete it. I made a lot, I mean a lot of mistakes in the assembling partly due to my poor eye vision. Let me explain what I did wrong.

1. The wall placement. You can refer to my picture with a comment above.

2. The colors can be confusing on the manual namely the red/brown, the light and dark gray and finally the transparent bricks. If you notice in the last picture above, the staircase on the left is off colour a bit. This is due to me using the brown bricks in the wrong place so I had to replace with red. Bummers!

3. I did not push in the bricks properly so the base plates tend to warp a bit so my building cannot open and close very well without using some force.

If you notice, I took out some furnitures infront of the main doors. Why? I just bought an original Lego Ecto-1 and it can only fit it if I remove some furnitures according to some websites.

No, for the reviews. For the price and fun itself, I'll give it a 10 out of 10! The bricks quality and mini figures are so-so only compared to other LEPIN releases. I don't like the quality of the mini figures; the legs are loose and always fall off. I have 1 missing brick (library ghost missing a hand) and 2 damaged bricks (refer below).

I'll be reviewing my LEPIN 15001 probably next week. Stay tune! Thanks for reading.
